Food & Recipes
It\’s DHPF Season is once again upon us and regardless of where you are watching the game, no game is complete without a little tailgating.
And, yes, tailgating can happen indoors, far from an actual tailgate. A quality tailgate experience is food, beer, friends and family .
So chill the beer, put on your game day jersey and take note of these football-friendly foods.

Sweet and Spicy Sriracha Bacon Chicken Bites
Ingredients
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breast fillets (I prefer Gold’n Plump®)
- ½ cup canola oil
- 2 tablespoons lime juice
- 2 tablespoons Sriracha sauce
- 1 lb bacon
- 1 cup brown sugar
Instructions
- Whisk together canola oil, lime juice and Sriracha sauce and pour into a gallon sized plastic bag.
- Cut the chicken into 1 inch cubes and add it to the bag. Once all of the chicken pieces are in the bag, turn the bag to coat the chicken with the marinade and place in the fridge for about 1 hour, turning after half an hour.
- Take 1 pound of bacon and cut each slice into three pieces. Wrap the bacon around the chicken pieces and secure with a wooden toothpick.
- Coat the bacon wrapped chicken in brown sugar and place on a greased broiler rack and pan. For extra heat, brush bacon with Sriracha before coating it with brown sugar.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes rack in the middle position. Then, open the oven door slightly and broil for the bacon chicken bites until the bacon is crispy, turning the chicken ever couple of minutes to prevent burning. I broiled these bacon chicken bites on high, rack in the middle position, for a total of 9 minutes and turned the chicken 3 times. Be sure to watch carefully because ovens vary and food can burn quickly while broiling.

Green Bay Packers Rice Krispie Treats
You will need
- Football Jersey Cookie Cutter (T-Shirt Cookie Cutter, found on Amazon)
- Kellogg’s Rice Krispies Cereal
- Butter
- Mini Marshmallows
- Americolor Leaf Green Food Coloring
- Americolor Forest Green Food Coloring
- Americolor Super Black Food Coloring
- Americolor Yellow Food Coloring
- Royal Icing
- Powdered Sugar
- Merinque Powder
Royal Icing Recipe – We used Royal Icing to decorate the Green Bay Packers Rice Krispie Treats. Our recipe is very simple – mix 1 box of powdered sugar with 5 tablespoons of meringue powder and slowly add up to 1/2 cup of water until the Royal Icing is the right consistency. To color the Royal Icing, you will need yellow and black food coloring. This recipe makes quite a bit of Royal Icing so you might want to adjust the measurements depending on how many team jerseys you will be making.
Now you need to make up a batch of Rice Krispie Treats. Our cookie cutter is pretty big so we only made three team jerseys from this size batch. We used 4 tablespoons of butter, 2 cups of marshmallows and 2 cups of Rice Krispie Treats for this sized batch of Rice Krispie Treats mixture. Melt the butter in a pan. Add the mini marshmallows and stir on medium low heat until they are completely melted.
After the marshmallows have melted but before you add the Rice Krispie Cereal, add your food coloring. To make this green color we added used the following combination of food coloring in the marshmallow mixture:
- Two small drops of Americolor Leaf Green Food Coloring.
- One small drop of Americolor Forest Green Food Coloring
Finally, add the Rice Krispie Cereal under it is completely covered with the green marshmallow mixture.
Let the green Rice Krispie Treat mixture cool for a few minutes. It needs to be cool enough to touch but still maleable. Spoon the mixture into the cookie cutter and mold it to fit the football jersey cookie cutter.
Use the white, yellow and black Royal Icing to mimic the Green Bay Packers Football Jersey. We added a #1 to the front and the iconic yellow, black and white stripes to the sleeves.
