May 2015

We are proud to announce, Marcos Flores from Corpus Christi, TX

Marcos Flores

Name: Marcos Flores

Currently resides in:  Corpus Christi, Texas

Q: What city/state were you born and raised?

A: Corpus Christi, Texas the City by the Sea!

Q: What is it like being a Packer fan in Texas (Dallas Cowboy Country)?

A: Being a Packer Fan anywhere is freakin\’ awesome, but around these parts there is never a dull moment to say the least. Usually, I sit back, watch and laugh at the Cowboys and Texans fans bicker about who\’s the better team in Texas. If I remember correctly, the last three times we played in Texas we tied the greatest comeback in Franchise history in Dallas, won Super Bowl XLV in Dallas, and Rodgers threw six TD\’s in Houston winning 42-24. Everything was really quiet around here until Dallas finally made it to the playoffs. Now, if I had a penny for every time I have to hear about the Romo to Bryant incompletion, I\’d retire at 38 and put my kids through college.

Q: How long have you been a Packer Fan?

A: 1992! I was acquired as a fan thanks to Ron Wolf via a trade with Atlanta, with one Brett Lorenzo Favre, also known to Jerry Glanville as \”Mississippi!\” Seriously! In middle school I followed Neon Deion Sanders and the dirty birds, so I was able to witness Brett\’s first NFL pass attempt / Interception returned for a TD.  The following year as a freshman in high school, I remember seeing the same guy march the Packers down the field for a come from behind victory, Week 3 vs Cincinnati, as a backup. My life would never be the same.

Q: Tell us about the Green Bay Boneyard.

A: The Boneyard is the final resting place for all teams defeated by the Packers. It was an Idea that came to me late one evening burning the midnight oil. I was actually trying to figure out what to do with some extra yard space after leveling out some abandoned raised gardens left behind by a prior tenant. Halloween was two months away and as a family we planned on decorating the house. The graveyard was the first thing that came to mind. Now it was just a matter of what we were going to display. I designed a sketch and pitched it to wife for the final approval. I tossed around a few funny ideas like displaying some falling rock stars or characters that have died in movies, but then suddenly the lightbulb turned on! How about not only decorating but giving the fans of fallen teams a place to come and grieve over their loss for the next six days. Turned out to be a talked about neighborhood attraction that gained the attention of the local newspapers at the season came to a close. Could not have turned out any better without the help of my amazing wife and my oldest son, Weasel! The boneyard is now an annual family tradition that we are looking forward to and will continue long after I\’m gone!

Q: Why do you love the packers?

A: The Packers are the consummate fan-centered sports organization that truly puts us fans, from all walks of life, first. Rich in history, tradition, and achievement, they are one of the more compelling stories in human history. I\’ve always felt like I could relate growing up in a small family business and working my way to the top as a draft and develop prospect as well as hiring technicians that are coach able and willing to learn. I love the way our organization is structured and operated from top to bottom.

Q: Who is your all-time favorite player? Why?

A: Brett Favre for bringing me over and making me believe. Followed by twinkle toes himself, Donald Driver!!!

Q: Who’s your favorite player now? Why?

A: Current player(s)  id have to go with the big boys up front digging trenches and protecting A-Rod, and opening holes for the Hulk!! If I was in a fight the first person I\’d probably call is TJ Lang!

Q: Do you have any game day rituals?

A: Starts with the good ol\’ cup of Joe in my shareholders mug! Make sure the boneyard is impeccable. Flags go up along with Bubba the inflatable Packer! Get the kids decked out. Crack a couple cold ones and get ready to party with the Pack!

Any last words you\’d like to say to the Packer Nation?

First of all I want to thank Die Hard Packer Fan for recognizing and showcasing the most important ingredient that makes our organization as successful as it is, US FANS! I AM HONORED TO BE SELECTED AS THE DIE HARD PACKER FAN of May 2015! This is honestly the coolest thing that has happened to me since the birth of my son, ELVIS! I cannot wait for all the Ups and Downs of the 2015 season. Time for Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy to do their thing this weekend!

To all Cheeseheads in Corpus Christi, Coastal Bend Packer Nation, the Great state of Texas, across the USA and abroad…..Can I get a GO PACK GO?!!
