Joey T\'s DHPF of the Month

January 2016

We are proud to announce, Eugene \”Mean Gene\” Greening  from Menasha, WI

Eugene Greening

Name: Eugene Greening (MeanGene)

Currently resides in: Menasha, WI

Q: What city/state were you born and raised?

A: New London, WI.

Q: How long have you been a Packer Fan?

A: Since 1958. I became a Packer fan in 1958.  We starting watching the Packers games on a black and white television because we only had an antenna. We lived way out in the country so the reception was very distorted.  Imagine watching the game in a really bad snow storm. That is what it was like. We could not enjoy it like we can now. We were just finally glad to have a TV.

My wife Dorothy supports all the fun stuff I do or we would not be doing it. What a wonderful wife I have!!! How Lucky am I!

Q: Who is your all-time favorite player? Why?

A: Brett Favre and Reggie White.  Brett Favre and Reggie White were instrumental in bringing the Lombardi Trophy back to Green Bay in 1997, Super Bowl XXXI.  Brett and Reggie also helped revive the Green Bay Packers franchise. That was a pivotal  time period in franchise history.

Q: Who’s your favorite player now? Why?

A: My favorite players are Aaron Rodgers and Clay Matthews. Again, I strongly feel that they were both needed so much to rally our team on Offense & Defense, They were both key elements in winning Super Bowl #45.

Q: Tell us how you came up with your persona “Mean Gene”  ie (the Cheese Wedge Hat, Foam Finger, wearing the Jersey, the towel and the dancing)

A: When getting ready to go to San Diego for Super Bowl #32, I came up with The Mt Headgear is a Cheese Wedge and Foam Finger. The Cheese Wedge was made to look different with the Foam Finger, towel & stickers.

The first Green Bay Packers Jersey I had made with ‘Mean Gene’ on it was #4.  The  next one was #12 and then #52.  All of my jerseys are of my favorite players, of course.

The name ‘Mean Gene’ is my stage name and I created it when I did The Coca Cola Football Town USA Contest in 2003. I performed my own cheer and was in the Coke AD! The Dancing came about and was part of doing The Coke Cheer, but, when I realized how much it was liked, we did more!

Q: Tell us about the Bill Board and the Coca-Cola Commercial.

A: My nephews Eric and Brett had talked me into doing the Coca Cola Football Town USA contest and the Proshop Touchdown Elation. CocaCola put me in a USA Today ad in the newspaper on Superbowl weekend. The Touchdown Elation by the Packers Pro Shop put me in their TV commercial and in their catalog on the billboard for a year. They put my Coca Cola ad in their showcase in the Packers Hall of Fame section.

Q: Do you have a Packer ManCave/Collections and Memorabilia? What are some of the most unique items?  What is your favorite?

A: The Man Cave, will never be done! I’m always adding more to it.

I love the Brett Favre signed Packer Helmet. The huge Reggie White picture, the Big Bear trap and many books, pictures & plaques.

Q: Tell us how you got involved with Club House Live with David Bakhtiari?

A: The Club House Live was  the first show for me approximately (4) years ago when Hall of Famer, Jim Taylor, was the guest. I started a friendship with the staff and the fans. I convinced them to be part of the show, introducing the co-hosts & guests! I have worked with Co-Hosts Tom Crabtree, John Kuhn for 2 years & now David Bakhtiari. The host, Brett Christopherson, calls me their Mascot. We entertain the fans up to 3 hours before the show with dancing & Packer Talk. It keeps getting better and better as time goes on. I am not a paid member of Club House Live.  I just do it for the love of the Packers.

Q: How many away games do you attend?  And, do you attend all the home games at Lambeau Field?

A: I have not missed but a couple of home games since getting my season tickets in 1990.  I love being at Lambeau Field around all of the fans.  I have also been to Super Bowl #32 in San Diego.  I’ve also attended a regular season game and playoff game in Arizona in 2009.

Q: Do you have any game day rituals?

A: Hang out with Family or Friends. I always have my game towels and like to whirl them hard! The towels are always with me no matter where the game is.

Any last words you\’d like to say to the Packer Nation?

There is nothing I love more than wearing the Packer Green & Gold every day of the year.  Attending things like The Packer Tailgate Tours in the spring,

Packer Palooza Party on Draft day weekend in Chicago.  Also, the Wills Northwoods, Packer Soft Ball Game is always a favorite of mine The multiple tailgate parties going on around Lambeau Field. Especially, the ones at Play-off time! All the fun with fans at the games and taking pictures.  The years of celebrating all the victories has been outstanding. I’ve had a great time even with all the enemy fans as well.

I want all the fans to enjoy all events to the fullest. Cheer hard for The Packers at home or away!  We need to let the Players play, the Coaches coach and the Management

Manage!  Let’s continue to be the best fans in the Country!
