Packers keep the impressive wins coming as they defeat the Chiefs
The Packers improved to 6-6 after defeating the Kansas City Chiefs 27-19 on Sunday Night Football.
The Packers got the ball first and scored touchdowns on their first two drives of the game. All KC could do is answer with two field goals. The half ended with the Packers leading 14-6. The Chiefs scored a touchdown to start the second half but failed on the 2-point conversion attempt. Both teams would trade touchdowns before the Packers added a pair of field goals. KC made a valiant attempt at a comeback but fell short, giving the Packers the victory.
Thoughts about this victory:
Jordan Love shined on this Sunday night with 3 touchdown passes. Christian Watson caught 2 of those 3 touchdowns, including an incredible athletic catch in the endzone. His rainbow pass to Romeo Doubs on 4th down was a thing of beauty. Just like he did in his first two games of the season, he threw 3 touchdown passes with no interceptions in his last 2 games.
The Packers never trailed in this game against the team that won the Super Bowl this past season. The defense gave up some yards and touchdowns throughout the game, but when it mattered the most, they got stops and Keisean Nixon came up with a huge interception off Patrick Mahomes.
The final possession by the Chiefs had a lot of controversy. Both teams seemed to benefit from calls, or non-calls. Mahomes was still in bounds when Jonathan Owens made contact. Marquez Valdes-Scantling was pushed backwards out of bounds, which should have kept the clock running. He was also interfered with, but the Packers didn’t get flagged for pass interference. There may have been another PI call on the Hail Mary play, but that usually doesn’t get called in that situation.
Taylor Swift was at the game. In fact, KC lost for the first time with her in attendance. Simone Biles was at the game too, and she saw her husband’s team get a huge victory in front of a national audience.
The Packers went into Thanksgiving Day at Detroit as underdogs and came away with a huge victory. The same thing happened at home vs KC. This team in Green Bay is making a huge statement.
It is hard to imagine that about a month ago, there was a lot of doubt about Jordan Love, Matt LaFleur, Joe Barry, and this whole Packer team. Right now, the Packers would be in the playoffs if the season were to end right now. They have a favorable schedule the rest of the way, including next Monday night on the road vs the Giants.
The Packers have a favorable schedule the rest of the way. It could determine whether or not they make the playoffs. Right now, they are at 0.500 and play the Giants on the road next week. We’ll see if they keep plying excellent football, or if they will do enough to squeak by.
Until next week, have a great week Packer fans! Let’s keep cheering our team to victory!
Go Pack Go!
