Packers to wear their 50s classic jerseys as they take on the Chargers
The Packers once again have an early game as they play host to the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday at Noon Central Time.
The Packers are 3-6 after falling 23-19 on the road to the Steelers. The Chargers are 4-5 after losing 41-38 at home to the Lions on a field goal on the last play of the game.
Justin Herbert has had an up and down year for the Chargers. His stats are good, but he has been criticized for not playing well enough late in close games. He is still a very talented player and has plenty of offensive weapons around him, especially Keenan Allen. The Packers need to make plays on defense and get off the field or this game could get away from them very quickly.
Speaking of losing close games, Jordan Love has been in plenty of close games this season, and other than the opener vs the Saints, they have not finished off the opposition in a one-score game. Teams are capable of moving the ball effectively against the Chargers. The Packers need to find a groove on offense and finish drives with touchdowns.
The Packers will be wearing their classic 50s throwback jerseys on Sunday. Although the 50s weren’t a highly successful decade for the team on the field, it did result in the hire of Vince Lombardi late in the decade.
The Packers have had quite a bit of success over the Chargers, but that was when the franchise was in San Diego. The Packers are 0-1 vs the Chargers since the move back to Los Angeles. In fact, the first road loss of Matt LaFleur’s coaching career came against the Chargers.
Speaking of Coach LaFleur, he has been very defensive lately, especially when it comes to Defensive Coordinator Joe Barry. It’s done nothing to quiet the critics, however. The way to do that is by winning and showing us all that you have taken major steps in the right direction. Until that happens (or until someone gets fired), those questions and doubts will remain.
The Packers are tied with the league lead with 3 blown leads in the 4th quarter. It isn’t all on the offense and Jordan Love. The defense received a lot of hype going into this season. They have failed to deliver more often than they have succeeded late in games. It’s time to flip the script and shut teams down and back up the offense, especially when they give the defense a lead.
The Chargers have not impressed much this year, but they seem to feast on bad teams. If this is a close game in the 4th quarter, the Packers will have a great chance of getting the win. Let’s take the fight to the Chargers and come up on top in the end. Whether you are at the game or elsewhere, let’s cheer the team to victory this Sunday.
