Joey T\'s DHPF of the Month
March 2017
We are proud to announce, Connie Muñoz Torres from Southern California, Inland Empire
Name: Connie Muñoz Torres
Currently resides in: Southern California, Inland Empire
Q: What city/state were you born and raised?
A: Lifelong California resident born and raised
Q: What is your earliest memory of being a DHPF?
A: 2007-2008 is when I started following the Packers watching the Gunslinger do his thing. Who could forget young Aaron Rodgers looking so impressive with his deep-down field throws. I loved everything about the Pack and was hooked.
Q: How did you become such a serious Packer fan living in California?
A: Living in California, people assume you have to rep the team from your state, but I was never really a Raider, Charger or 49er fan. I was more of a NFL fan until I started following The Packers. I enjoyed learning about the history of the only team in the NFL to be owned by its fans. I liked that it’s not a corporation or owned by a billionaire. Only ordinary people who are lucky enough to take advantage of owning stock in a team. To me, there is nothing more traditional than that.
Q: Are you the only one in your family that loves the Packers?
A: Unfortunately Yes, I am the only one that backs the Pack in my family. My siblings are Cowboy fans. My husband grew up more of Basketball fan and followed the 49ers growing up. But since they’re decline in management in recent years he’s more of a fan of the NFL. Although, I am working hard on getting him to cross over onto the Green and Gold side. He enjoyed our trip to Green Bay this past season to watch The Packers play The Cowboys. I’m hoping for a few couple more visits to Cheese Heaven. You never know, we may have another Cheesehead in the family lol!
Q: What would be your most valuable Packer memorabilia piece? (non-monetarial)
A: I would have to say it’s my Packer Players autographed Cheesehead. All the signatures were acquired over a period of time. It’s also been signed by members of the band group Cheeseheads with Attitude. My Cheese wedge is priceless to me. I will forever cherish it and pass it down to my future Cheesehead grandbabies that will be Packer fans too. Well at least if I have a say so. 😉
Q: When was your first visit to Lambeau Field?. What was your most memorable experience?
A: My first visit to Lambeau Field was for the home opener against Seattle in 2015. It was a dream come true. and It was special because I was finally able to meet (in person) 2 very special ladies. Had it not been for the love of the Packers and a Facebook Packers fan group, we would of never became friends. We were chatting back and forth for years. We attended our first game together and were fortunate enough to witness the WIN over the Hawks! Especially the way our 2014 season ended it was sweet revenge to get a win over them. And quiet the 12th man in our home. Loved it!
Q: You are well known on social media for making Packer memes, tell us how you became so entrenched in designing them?
A: LOL…… I love making Packer Memes because I was tired of seeing the same ol’ memes over and over again. So, I’d surf the web and find some cool images and would save them to Packer’m up a bit. Always wanting to keep them Classy, because that is what we Packer fans are……classy not trashy! I also enjoy seeing them get shared throughout FB courtesy of DHPF!
Q: Do you stay at home or do you have a specific spot where you meet fellow Packer fans to watch the games?
A: I typically watch the games in the comfort of my living room. It’s nice because I can rewind the game as often as I need to and re-watch a play, or even press mute on my volume to tune out certain announcers.😉 I find myself yelling and screaming at the TV with excitement. I’m sure I’m not the only one who does this. But when I am not doing that, I meet up with a few local Inland Empire Cheeseheads and catch the game at a local sports bar, decked out in my Packer gear of course.
Q: Who is your favorite player now and why?
A: It would have to be the NFL’s 2x MVP Aaron Rodgers, and a no doubt future hall of famer. The way he motivates his team to go out there and give it their all is like no other. It just takes one word “RELAX” from him to calm our nerves when it counts! And those Hail Mary’s passes are like crazy plays that only Aaron can pull off. I was there in 2016 when Aaron threw his 2nd Hail Mary against the Arizona Cardinals ultimately allowing us to go into overtime. It was simply AMAZING to see his arm strength and foot ability to connect with Jeff Janis like that. He is an Elite quarterback and his stats speak for themselves. The chemistry between Aaron and Jordy is special, and Jordy was greatly missed in 2015.
Q: Who is your “all time” favorite player?
A: Again that would have to be Aaron Rodgers.
Q: Do you have any game day rituals/superstitions?
A: My game day ritual is not eating before a game. I will throw back a couple of cold ones but I cannot eat a meal or snack during a game. I get too wound up and can’t stomach food. I also wear my “lucky heart” Packer earrings.
Q: Any last words you\’d like to say to Packer Fans?
A: I would like to let The Packer Nation that I am proud to call them my family! We are undoubtedly the BEST fan base there is in the NFL. Our loyalty and love for our team is like no other and that sets us apart. Let’s keep the faith and know that our boys will continue to work hard to bring another Lombardi Trophy home.
A special shout out to everyone at DHPF for their awesome work and dedication in running a superb page with the latest news and allowing us fans to share our pictures and memes. You guys are the BEST! GO PACK GO!
