Packers look keep their momentum going as they face the Vikings in Minnesota
The Packers look to keep their momentum going as they get ready for the playoffs, and they get a good test on Sunday as they visit US Bank Stadium to take on the Vikings in the late afternoon.
The Packers are 11-4 after defeating the Saints 34-0 on Monday night. The Vikings are 13-2 after rallying to defeat the Seahawks 27-24 on the road last Sunday.
Sam Darnold is having a career year for Minnesota. Aaron Jones is showing he still has a lot left in the tank, and the receiving corps, especially Justin Jefferson, is a major strength. This offense is hard to stop. The defense needs to generate a pass rush and disrupt their rhythm. The Packers got a few turnovers off them in their first meeting in Green Bay, but they fell behind by a lot early and were ultimately unable to surpass them on the scoreboard.
Jordan Love is playing a lot better since their first encounter with the Vikings. Josh Jacobs is running the ball very well, and the Packers’ receivers are making big plays. The team cut down on their turnovers too, which will be huge if they are to get this victory.
Another area where the Packers improved is their kicking game. Brandon McManus has done nicely since they acquired him. It would be a huge boost if they can win the battle of field position. They won’t have the weather to worry about as they will be playing indoors.
This is a special year for the NFC North, or at least for 3 of the teams. The Packers have 11 wins, which would put them in the lead in many of the other divisions, but it’s only good for 3rd place this year. Even the Vikings with 13 wins are trailing in the division. With the Lions having a career regular season in their franchise history but battling key injuries, even they aren’t a lock for anything, not even the division just yet.
For the Packers to win vs Minnesota this time, they need to avoid falling behind early. They fell behind 28-0, and even though they got close in the 4th quarter, they couldn’t finish the comeback. They are more than capable of playing with the Vikings and winning this game. They need to make plays, especially late in the game.
The Packers are going into the playoffs no matter what happens on Sunday. They need this win to build momentum and show themselves and the rest of the league that they are fully capable of winning these types of games. Besides, it’s always fun to beat the Vikings.
It will be a playoff-type atmosphere in Minnesota this Sunday afternoon. It will be loud, but I can see the Packers making the most noise where it counts, on the field and on the scoreboard. Let’s get this win on Sunday Green Bay!
