Packers look to light it up at Lumen Field
After playing consecutive Thursday night games, the Packers play on Sunday night as they face the Seattle Seahawks on the road.
The Packers are 9-4 after falling 34-31 on the road to the Detroit Lions last Thursday night. The Seahawks are 8-5 after defeating the Arizona Cardinals 30-18 on the road last Sunday.
Geno Smith only has a 14-12 ratio or touchdowns vs interceptions, but he completes almost 70% of his passes. He has Seattle in the #3 spot in the NFC playoff picture. Jaire Alexander has been ruled out for this game, so the defense will have to dig deep once again. Smith has been sacked 40 times this season, so it would be nice if the Packers add to that total as much as they can on Sunday. They need to get stops and turnovers on defense.
Jordan Love has gone 3 straight games without throwing an interception. He is playing well at the right time. There are 4 games left to go in the regular season. Let’s get this offense rolling. They have scored 30+ points in each of their last 3 games. Keep the touchdowns coming early and often.
Seattle is a tough place to go into and get a win and the Packers know that all too well. Their last win at that stadium came in 2008, a 27-17 GB victory. Detroit is a tough place to win as well and the Packers nearly did that, and they got a win last year at Ford Field. There is no reason why they can’t get a win at Lumen Field, and yes, I had to search for the name of the stadium. It’s hard to keep up with all of the name changes.
If the playoffs were to start right now. The Packers would be facing the Seahawks and in the same venue too. It’s like facing 2 opponents when you play in Seattle, the team itself and the “Twelves”, the noisy crowd. They can’t allow themselves to fall victim to the crowd noise. Avoid the false starts, the fumbled snaps, the forced timeouts, etc. You are playing right into their hands if you can’t control those things.
This is Game 3 of 4 straight night games. It’s great to get that recognition but the anticipation all day leading up to the games can be pretty intense. Let’s make the most of it and leave Seattle with a victory!
