Two teams heading in different directions as Packers run past 49ers
The Packers improved to 8-3 after their 38-10 win over the San Francisco 49ers.
The Packers got the ball first and went to work, driving down the field and scoring a touchdown on a pass to Tucker Kraft. Their second drive stalled and they had to settle for a 51-yard field goal by Brandon McManus. Their third drive ended even better as Romeo Doubs made all 3 of his receptions on the drive, which ended on a TD run by Josh Jacobs. The 49ers got a TD of their own late in the half and the Packers settled for a 17-7 halftime lead. In the 3rd quarter. Xavier McKinney got an interception and ran it back into SF territory. Jacobs took it in for a 24-7 lead. The 49ers got a field goal but also fumbled twice, both leading to Packer touchdowns, another run by Jacobs and a TD pass from Jordan Love to Malik Heath. The loss sent SF to 5-6 on the season.
Thoughts about this win:
The stats aren’t overwhelming for Love, but he was decent and didn’t have to do much. He made some nice throws when he needed to make them at times. The big thing is the Packers had no giveaways. Josh Jacobs and the running game took control of this game.
The Packers went back to forcing turnovers themselves. McKinney got his 7th interception this season. The whole Packers’ team had 7 last year in the regular season. Kenny Clark and Karl Brooks both recovered fumbles. All 3 takeaways led to Packer touchdowns. Brooks blocked that FG attempt last week and now has a fumble recovery. Let’s keep seeing those big plays from him.
McManus had a 51-yard FG in the 1st half. It’s nice to have someone out there we can rely on. Daniel Whelan had a 48.8-yard average, including a kick for 59 yards. Special teams has turned into a pretty reliable unit for the Packers.
It was a great win for the Packers, especially against a team like SF. It doesn’t matter that the 49ers were missing a lot of their star players. It’s also just the regular season. There are no trophies handed out and no trips to the Super Bowl after this game, just a quality win for GB. There may not even be a rematch as the 49ers now have 6 losses already and can’t afford much more. A trip to Buffalo awaits them. It doesn’t look good for the team from Santa Clara.
It was a nice win but the Packers don’t have much time to celebrate. They play the night game on Thanksgiving, a home game vs the Miami Dolphins. In the meantime, let’s enjoy this victory. Have a great week Packer fans! We will get back to football very soon!
