Packers renew rivalry with Bears as they travel to Soldier Field
After a bye last week, the Packers face the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field at Noon Central Time this Sunday.
The Packers are 6-3, their last game being a 24-14 loss to the Detroit Lions at Lambeau Field 2 weeks ago. The Bears are 4-5 after losing 19-3 at home to the New England Patriots last Sunday.
The Packers get their first look at Caleb Williams up close. He looked good for a few games, but he regressed these last 3 weeks, all losses by the Bears. On paper, D.J. Moore and Keenan Allen should be a duel threat, but the Bears haven’t done much of anything on offense lately. Let’s keep it that way. The Patriots had 9 sacks last Sunday and 16 in their other 9 games. The Packers have a great opportunity to get after the quarterback. Let’s get back to forcing turnovers too.
Jordan Love has made some brilliant plays this season, but he has also thrown an interception in every game that he played so far. Let’s stop the turnovers and jump on them early. The Bears are vulnerable to the big play as they allowed routine plays to turn into huge gains for opposing offenses. Let’s stay patient and move the ball down the field.
From 2009 until now, the Packers have celebrated a win at Soldier Field every year except for 2018. That victory in the 2010 season came in the NFC Championship Game. That is an amazing stretch of dominance. Let’s keep it going. It’s fun winning at that place.
The Bears are a very dysfunctional team right now. They seem to have no sense of direction. The fans have had enough of Matt Eberflus. Players are showing a lack of discipline. Caleb Williams has not looked like a #1 overall pick lately. After a loss to the Commanders with the final play coming on a tipped Hail Mary pass, the Bears got held out of the endzone the next week at Arizona. Last week’s home game vs NE was supposed to get them back on track heading into this game with GB, but the opposite scenario happened instead. They looked lifeless at home vs a team who was 2-7 coming into the game. The Bears fired their offensive coordinator and more changes could be on the way soon.
Despite it all, this is still a rivalry game. Players on the Bears have been stating in the offseason the importance of beating Green Bay. It hasn’t happened much at all lately. The Packers have won 10 straight overall vs the Bears, tying their longest winning streak against them.
The Packers need to take care of things on Sunday. They are the better football team and they have to play like it. Let’s cheer the team to victory this weekend wherever you will be!
