The only thing to do in Green Bay is Win!
This just in, the Bears still suck.
Ownership of the football team from Chicago continues to remain firmly, in Green Bay Wisconsin. A place where there’s not much to do, besides whoop the bears for the 50th time in my own personal existence. The first half proved to stay close as the Pack held a narrow 7-6 lead going into the locker room at half. Big thank you to whoever’s mom brought the orange slices and juice boxes for the guys this week, cause they came out second half all business. Defense answered the call in the second half to help put the Bears out of their misery, bailing “decaf Joe” out.
Aaron Jones ran like a man on a mission for 111 yards, averaging 5 yards a carry, and really got the momentum going in the third quarter. Not going down without a fight he constantly turned no or small gains into chunk yardage, often bringing 2-3 fully grown female bears down with him. Jordan Love threw another beauty, 27 of 32 attempts completed, and 2 touchdowns, zero turnovers. I never handed him the keys on day one, but I had a special feeling about this Love guy since week 3. New Orleans, was I think the second time he brought us back to win a game, and I could see it. He had young receivers that were dropping passes but he was delivering them. As the games went on the receivers started to settle down, Jordan started throwing dimes and threading the needle like my grandma with her velvet ornaments. This is a special young group coming up in Green bay, no matter how far this year goes, I’m excited for this club’s future.
The defense only allowed 3 field goals all game, holding that Jason Fields guy to 148 total yards and no touchdowns, as well as capping their overall rushing to 75 yards. 5 sacks on the day gave the Chicago quarterback something to do at least during his time in Lambeau, practice getting up. The fellas up front registered 5 sacks for the Pack, and even held them to under 100 yards on the ground. One of the best games for this unit all year, and not a moment too soon. No matter who you play, it’s always good to have a confidence boost/momentum going into the playoffs. Especially on the road. The Bears offense is ranked 20th in the league overall, so I’m not going to hold my breath against McCarthy in Dallas this weekend. But it is Dallas, and any given sunday.
Mike McCarthy is going to change his approach this year about facing his former super bowl organization. He started last year’s week against the Packers, talking to his team about his time in Green Bay, and in hindsight, believe’s it may have been more of a distraction than he meant for. So this year, he’s going with the blinders on mentality. He knows that the team he once coached and beat Dallas to get to a super bowl, is long gone. Coach McCarthy left Green Bay in 2018 and took a year off before signing with Dallas during the pandemic season of 2020, now securing his 3rd playoff appearance with the Cowboys. Rather than having an “Ice Bowl 2” in Green Bay this weekend, the weather should be mild in “Jerry world” Texas under the dome. Based on our guys getting hot just in time, the nice indoors coming from Lambeau, not to mention “dem boys” choke history, I’m feeling the cheesiest. GO PACK GO!
