Packers look to avoid an upset after 2 impressive victories as they face the Giants
The Packers have a 3-game winning streak and look to keep it going as they face the New York Giants on the road this Monday night.
The Packers are 6-6 after winning 27-19 at home vs the Kansas City Chiefs. The Giants are 4-8 with their last game, a 10-7 home victory over the New England Patriots.
For the Giants, rookie Tommy DeVito gets the start. My guess is they will try to get the running game going early and often with Saquon Barkley. Given how the Packers have struggled to stop the run lately, that wouldn’t be a bad strategy for them. The Packers have been good these last 3 games at forcing takeaways and getting the opposition to settle for field goals instead of touchdowns. Let’s keep that going.
Jordan Love has been playing some pretty good football these last 3 games. He is looking to keep it going under the bright lights of the Meadowlands, especially on Monday Night Football. In both of their impressive wins these last 2 games, they got their offense going early, finishing drives with touchdowns. Let’s keep it going against the Giants.
Many of the players were on the roster last season when they went to London to face the Giants. The Packers had a poor second half and ended up losing. That was the beginning of a rough season for Green Bay, a season where they rallied late to win games, only to lose their final game and miss the playoffs. They have a chance to write a different script this year.
On paper, this is a game the Packers should win. After a Thanksgiving Day win in Detroit and a victory over the defending champion Chiefs, this should be no problem. It doesn’t work that way in the NFL though. The Packers had better respect their opponents and come out on Monday night looking to dominate.
This is a time for the Packers to shine. After 2 very impressive wins, this is no time for a letdown. The Giants aren’t going to lay down, but if the Packers play anything near their best game, they should win easily. Let’s keep that momentum going as we battle for a playoff spot. Wherever you are, let’s get behind our team and cheer them to victory.
