Packers rally to throw back Chargers on Throwback Jersey Day
The Packers won their 2nd straight home game as they defeated the Los Angeles Chargers 23-20 on Sunday afternoon.
After the teams traded 4th-down failures and the Packers punted, the Chargers scored on a field goal. The Packers answered with a touchdown, and the Chargers did the same. The Packers went into halftime tied 10-10 after kicking a field goal towards the end of the half. The Chargers and the Packers traded leads until the Packers scored with less than 3 minutes remaining in the game. The Chargers got the ball twice but failed to score either time, giving Green Bay a very satisfying win and improving to 4-6 on the season.
Thoughts about this victory:
It was a nice performance by Jordan Love, his first 300-yard passing game of his career. He showed a lot of poise and did not turn the ball over.
It was a frustrating day for injuries. Both Aaron Jones and Emanuel Wilson were lost to injuries on the same drive.
One of the biggest plays of the game was when Jordan Love got sacked and fumbled, but Zach Tom was there to recover the ball. It might have made the difference in who won the game.
Both teams made mistakes and had dropped passes, but the ones that plagued the Chargers seemed to hurt more. RB Austin Ekeler slipped near the goal line and got back up and fumbled the ball, wasting a golden opportunity to score. In a game that was a 3-point margin of defeat, that was huge.
Kicker Anders Carlson still has to work on his consistency. He missed a long field goal badly and even missed an extra point. With a 4-point deficit late in the game, they needed a touchdown to win it, just like last week when they had an XP blocked. Last week, they couldn’t get it done. Thankfully they did this week.
The Chargers aren’t a great team, but it was an impressive victory for the Packers. Hopefully they are showing signs of growth. We shall wait and see.
The Packers will have a short time to enjoy this victory because they travel to Detroit to face the Lions on Thanksgiving Day. Speaking of the Lions, they almost shot themselves in the foot with 3 interceptions and a lost fumble on a kickoff return. They were able to rally from 12 points down and defeat the Bears 31-26. Let’s see the Packers force 4 turnovers and see if they can hold on and win.
Enjoy the win Packer fans! Thursday will be here before we know it!
