Struggling Packers look to get past the struggling Rams
The Packers will look to end their 4-game losing streak on Sunday when they host the Los Angeles Rams.
The Packers are 2-5 after losing at home 24-10 to the Minnesota Vikings. The Rams are 3-5 after getting blown out 43-20 to the Dallas Cowboys.
It is unclear whether Matthew Stafford will play on Sunday. If he is unable to go, then Brett Rypien will be the likely starter. Cooper Kupp is a proven receiver and rookie sensation Puka Nacua has been making plays from the moment he stepped on an NFL field. The Packers will have to account for them no matter who is throwing the football. The defense needs to get off the field and give their offense a chance to do something.
Jordan Love will be given 10 games to prove himself. This is a good place to start. They need to find a way out of their first half struggles. It’s ridiculous that they can’t even score a touchdown in the first half lately. It’s not entirely on Love, but his mechanics really need to get better. It’s also up to the coaches to put him in a position where he can succeed.
Matt LaFleur is on the hot seat. I didn’t think I would be saying that at the beginning of the year. The Raiders already fired their head coach and general manager, and remember that the Packers lost to them. If LaFleur doesn’t find some answers very soon, he could be next.
The Packers have had their way with the Rams lately, especially at home. Things can change quickly in the NFL though, and I don’t think there is any team in the league that can’t beat the Packers right now. Until they win a game again, I can’t see why opposing teams aren’t bursting with confidence when they see the Packers on their schedule, even a team struggling mightily like the Rams.
No matter how much the Rams have struggled and even if Matthew Stafford misses this game with injuries, there is no reason for them to fear playing against Green Bay. It’s time to change that. They traded away Rasul Douglas to the Buffalo Bills, so it proves the Packers are looking to the future. They can still be competitive and show these other teams that they haven’t packed it in, pun intended. I see them rising to the occasion and squeezing out a tight victory. Wherever you are, let’s get behind the team and cheer them to victory this weekend!
