Purple reign in Green Bay as the Vikings win at Lambeau
The Packers fell to 2-5 after losing 24-10 at home to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday afternoon.
It was a dismal first half for the Packers offensively as they gained only 6 yards and no first downs on their first 4 possessions of the game. They finally kicked a field goal to end the half, trailing 10-3. It wasn’t a whole lot better in the second half as they fell behind 24-3 and even though they cut the deficit to 24-10, they were unable to find the endzone again.
Thoughts about another frustrating loss:
The Packers suffered through a lot of dropped passes and penalties in this game. Once again, they had trouble getting off the field on 3rd down.
The offense just can’t get out of its own way. It seems like whenever they get a promising drive going and gathering momentum, something happens like a penalty or dropped pass that throws the whole thing into a mess.
Slow starts are bad enough, but what is it with the team unable to score any touchdowns in the first half? Look at the last 3 games especially. It’s not like they are playing the 70s Steelers or the Ravens of 2000. They are just totally inept in the first half, and that means they have to catch up in the second half, something that this team in its current state is not very good at doing.
Injuries are unfortunately part of the game, and it’s rough hearing that Kirk Cousins has an ACL injury. Whether it’s with the Vikings or a different team, hopefully he can come back from an injury like that.
The Packers are just not very good right now. It’s hard to imagine they can beat any team right now. We shall see when the Rams come into Green Bay next Sunday. Maybe they can find something that works and come away with a surprising victory. It has to start somewhere. Have a great week Packer fans!
