Packers take on the Saints in Jordan Love’s first career home start
The Packers welcome in the New Orleans Saints as they play their first game at Lambeau Field in the 2023-24 season. The game will be on Sunday at Noon Central Time.
The Packers are 1-1 after falling 25-24 to the Atlanta Falcons last Sunday. The Saints are 2-0 after winning 20-17 at Carolina this past Monday night.
Derek Carr is now with the Saints, and while his stats are not outstanding, his record is 2-0. They likely will be without former Packer RB Jamaal Williams. QB Taysom Hill might see some action in the backfield. Chris Olave and Michael Thomas are the main receivers. Thomas had a monster year in 2019 but has fallen way back since then. He still has major skills and can have a huge game at any time, so the Packers have to be aware of that. The Packers need to make a statement on defense, especially after the subpar performance at Atlanta last week. Let’s get some turnovers and stops. Let’s get off the field and give the offense a chance to do its thing.
Jordan Love will be making his first career start at Lambeau Field. His emotions have to be running high and I know he wants to give the home fans a great performance. Aaron Jones has practiced, a good sign that he is ready to return. David Bakhtiari said that he is ready to go on Sunday. Christian Watson might still be sidelined with his injury. The offense did some good things at Atlanta, but they stalled in the 4th quarter. They have to be much better on Sunday.
It will be a great atmosphere at Lambeau Field this Sunday. It is the first home game of the season and many former Packers will be in the building. Jordan Love’s first start will only make the atmosphere that much better.
I expect the Saints to come out and try to prove their 2-0 start is no fluke and that they are a team to be taken seriously. Despite that, I expect the Packers to win this one. The emotions running high with them playing in their home opener, the first home start for Jordan Love, and the fact that the Saints are coming off a short week give the Packers the edge in my opinion. They still have to play the game and the Packers need a full 60 minutes and need a better 4th quarter on both sides of the ball this time around. Enjoy the game wherever you are and let’s cheer the Packers to victory this Sunday.
