Falcons rally late to send Packers to 1-1 on the season
The Packers are now 1-1 on the season as the Falcons rallied to score 13 points in the 4th quarter and win 25-24 on Sunday afternoon.
The Falcons scored first to take a 3-0 lead, but the Packers responded with 10 points in the 2nd quarter before Atlanta scored a late touchdown before halftime but missed the extra point for a 10-9 Packers’ lead. The Packers outscored the Falcons 14-3 in the 3rd quarter to take a 24-12 lead, but the Falcons scored the final 13 points of the game, including the game-winning FG with 57 seconds left and the Packers were unable to respond.
Thoughts about the game:
Jordan Love looked good at times with 3 TD passes and no interceptions, but he showed his youth along with the rest of the offense in the 4th quarter.
The defense was a disappointment. Atlanta had too many long drives, and the Packers were unable to stop the run. Rasul Douglas had an interception, but both Jaire Alexander and Quay Walker dropped interceptions that really could have made a difference in winning or losing.
I like these young receivers. Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks made some nice plays. Tight end Luke Musgrave will keep getting better too.
In the end though, the defense wore down. The offense could not get anything going in the 4th quarter when it really mattered. It is a disappointing loss, but these are some of the growing pains this team will have to go through in order to get better.
It was frustrating to see them lose this game, but they just have to learn from this and move forward. The good thing is that every other team in the division lost as well, starting with the Vikings losing this past Thursday night.
It is now on to the next one. They play their first home game of the season next week as the New Orleans Saints come into Lambeau Field for a Noon (Central Time) start next Sunday. The Saints will be coming off a short week as they play in Carolina on Monday night. Take care Packer fans!
