Packers look to give their fans some Christmas cheer as they head to Miami.
The Packers will try to keep their slim playoff hopes alive as they hit the road for a Noon (Central Time) matchup with the Miami Dolphins on Christmas Day.
The Packers are 6-8 after their 24-12 win over the Los Angeles Rams on Monday night. The Dolphins are 8-6 after losing 32-29 on the road to the Buffalo Bills last Saturday.
Tua Tagovailoa is having a fine year. It helps that he has a lot of weapons around him such as RB Raheem Mostert, and receivers Tyreek Hill and Jaylon Waddle, both of whom have over 1,000 receiving yards. The Packers will need to be disciplined and focused because Miami can hit them in many different areas.
The offense is still about Aaron Rodgers, but as long as he has a running game, everything becomes much easier. The Packers need to get their offense going and finish drives with touchdowns because Miami is capable of scoring a lot of points. Miami has 35 sacks on the year, so if the Packers fall behind by multiple scores and are throwing the ball to catch up, they are asking for trouble.
Keisean Nixon had some nice returns for the Packers on Monday night. If they can get decent field position much of the game, it will be a huge boost for the offense.
These teams don’t play each other very often due to being in different conferences. Miami is 10-5 in the series. They won their first 8 meetings but have lost 5 of the last 7 games between the two teams. The last time these teams played in Miami was a memorable one. Rodgers was rushing up to the line late in the game and did a fake spike like Dan Marino. He connected with rookie Davante Adams for a first down out of bounds with 6 seconds left. On the next play, he hit Andrew Quarless for a game-winning touchdown and a 27-24 lead with 3 seconds left in the game.
This is obviously a huge game for the Packers as they need to win out and get help, but this is also huge for the Dolphins as they lost their last 3 games and are fighting not only for playoff positioning but just to make the playoffs right now. This is also Miami’s first home game in almost a month, so the fans will be excited and ready to watch the home team play football once again.
This will be a playoff-type atmosphere, and the Packers need to be ready for anything and everything. Wherever you are Packer fans, enjoy this wonderful time of the year and be ready to cheer the team to victory this Sunday afternoon!
