The Packers look to get back into the win column as they face lowly Detroit
The Packers hit the road once again and look to end their losing streak as they visit the Motor City to take on the Detroit Lions at Noon Central Time. By the way, be sure to set your clocks back an hour this weekend.
The Packers are 3-5 after losing 27-17 at Buffalo last Sunday night. The Lions are 1-6 and lost 31-27 at home to the Miami Dolphins last Sunday.
Jared Goff has played in a Super Bowl and played well at times this season, but he also had some miserable games lately. Their leading rusher is a familiar name, former Packer Jamaal Williams. Their leading receiver is no longer on the team as T.J. Hockenson has been dealt to the Vikings. It’s a good thing too because he had some big receptions vs Green Bay in the past. I am a bit surprised that Amon-Ra St. Brown was not their leading receiver, but he did miss a game. This offense is capable of scoring a lot of points, so the Packers need to be ready for this matchup.
Aaron Rodgers needs to feed the running backs the ball, especially Aaron Jones. They are stuck with the receivers they have for now. Someone needs to get open and create separation. They should be able to move the ball against this defense. Something is terribly wrong if they don’t.
The Lions are capable of huge offensive outbursts. They were once the highest-scoring team in the league before the New England Patriots shut them out. They scored 6 points in 2 games combined but scored 27 points in a losing effort vs Miami. Even without Hockenson, they have receivers the Packers need to account for at all times they are on the field.
The trade deadline came without the Packers getting any receivers in return. They need to ride with the players currently on their roster. It’s frustrating for a lot of us but familiar for GB.
At 3-5 and with 4 straight losses, any win would be welcome for the Packers right now. They need to end this losing streak this weekend. If they don’t, they would really need to play above what we’ve seen from them this season to get back into the win column anytime soon. They need to focus on beating Detroit. If they do, perhaps they’ll have something to build on and get a nice winning streak going.
The trade deadline has come and gone and the Packers came away with nothing. This is the roster that will have to get it done at the moment. They did some good things in Buffalo despite losing. It would be nice if they could put two good halves together. If they do that, they should come away with the win this Sunday. It’s time to end this losing streak. Let’s go Green Bay!
