Packers look to dominate in the Beltway
The Packers hit the road as they take on the Washington Commanders at Noon Central Time this Sunday.
The Packers are 3-3 after losing 27-10 at home to the New York Jets. The Commanders are 2-4 after winning 12-7 at Chicago on Thursday Night Football.
Taylor Heinicke will be starting for Washington. He started last year at Green Bay and lost 24-10. Terry McLaurin is always a receiving threat. Brian Robinson Jr. is a great story at running back. He was shot before the season started but scored the winning touchdown vs the Bears at Soldier Field in his second career game. The Packers need to keep the pressure on the quarterback and get some turnovers for a change. At the very least, get off the field and give the ball back to the offense.
Aaron Rodgers hasn’t had a great last few games. Aaron Jones and A.J. Dillon need to get the running game going. Somebody please get separation at receiver and give Rodgers someone to throw to. Stop the holding penalties and finish drives in the endzone. Let’s find a formula that works.
Special teams really took a step back vs the Jets. None of the units played well last week. There needs to be a significant improvement in all 3 phases this week and moving forward.
Ron Rivera has won a Super Bowl as a player and been to one as a head coach. He is known as Riverboat Ron, meaning that he will gamble and make bold moves in order to win a football game. The Packers have faced him many times, whether he was a coordinator, a head coach with Carolina, or with Washington, whether they were known as the Football Team or now as the Commanders. The Packers need to be ready for anything and everything. As the underdog, Riverboat Ron will do whatever it takes to win the game, including some trickery.
Matt LaFleur has been getting outcoached a lot lately. He needs to do his homework and find a way to stay a step above the competition. Many games are won or lost based on coaching decisions, especially those late in the game.
The Packers need a spark anywhere they can get it, and they aren’t playing a great team or even a good team. They are playing vs a head coach who isn’t afraid to take a gamble or two. For a change, the Packers need to be the ones providing that spark.
The way the Packers are playing right now, nothing is a given. There are a lot of rumors going around about whether the Packers will add a receiver via trade or signing, but whatever the case, they just need a win right now. This is not a good team the Packers are playing on Sunday, but the way they themselves have been playing lately, there is nothing to brag about. They need to go out there and take it on Sunday.
The Packers can’t afford a subpar performance on Sunday. They need to be ready to dominate from the start. Let’s be ready to dominate! Wherever you are Packer fans (and I’m sure there will be plenty at the game on Sunday), let’s cheer this team to victory on Sunday!
Go Pack Go!
