Packers look ahead to playoffs after a 13-4 regular season
The Packers ended the regular season with a 37-30 road loss to the Detroit Lions.
Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams added to their impressive stats as Adams set a franchise record for yards receiving in a season. Jordan Love played the entire second half and led the team to two touchdown drives, one which put the Packers ahead 30-27 late in the game. The defense couldn’t hold onto the lead and the Lions ended their season with a win but lost out on the #1 overall pick in the NFL Draft.
Now that the regular season is over, here are the playoff seedings and matchups:
#7 Eagles at #2 Buccaneers, Sunday January 16th at Noon (Central Time)
#6 49ers at #3 Cowboys, Sunday January 16th at 3:30 pm
#5 Cardinals at #4 Rams, Monday January 17th at 7:15 pm
The #1 seeded Packers will host the lowest remaining seed. If the Eagles upset the Bucs, they visit Lambeau Field, so they may know their opponent after the first NFC playoff game. It’s also possible they won’t know their opponent until late Monday night. The Packers will not face the Bucs or the Cowboys in their first playoff game. All other four teams are a possibility.
The 49ers and Cowboys will meet in the playoffs for the first time since the 1994-95 season. Don’t be surprised if the 49ers win in an upset. They play a physical brand of football on both sides of the ball and have given the Packers fits in the playoffs during the last decade. If the Packers do have to face them, at least it will be at Lambeau Field. Also, the Packers won the game in Santa Clara in Week 3 on a field goal by Mason Crosby on the final play of the game.
In this “tune-up” game at Detroit, the defense didn’t look very good and Mason Crosby missed an XP. There were some promising things like the running game. The biggest thing about the game is that there were no injuries. They now have extra time to rest up and prepare for their first opponent, which will hopefully be the first of three opponents and three victories.
Everyone enjoy the first round of the playoffs. Let the rest of the teams beat each other up. The Packers are resting and preparing for whoever they have to face in their first game. Have a great week Packer fans! Our beloved Packers will be back on the field soon enough.
Go Pack Go!
