Packers are back home and look to get back to winning as they face Seattle
The Packers move on from last Sunday as they now prepare to face the Seattle Seahawks at Lambeau Field late Sunday afternoon.
The Packers are 7-2 but fell 13-7 at Kansas City last Sunday. The Seahawks are 3-5 and coming off a bye week. Their most recent game was a 31-7 home win over the Jaguars two Sundays ago.
As of this writing, we don’t know for sure about the status for Aaron Rodgers right now. The chances look good that he will play but we probably won’t know until the weekend.
Seattle is likely to start Russell Wilson. He is a great talent but has struggled in previous meetings at Lambeau Field. The Packers have been playing well on defense lately and they have another huge task ahead of them in this game. D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett are more than capable of having a huge game every week they play, so the Packers need to contain both of them.
If the Packers do get Aaron Rodgers back and he is close to feeling healthy, the Packers’ offense gets a huge boost. Seattle’s defense is not very good. We could possibly see David Bakhtiari on the field for the first time this season as well.
The special teams were terrible last Sunday. Hopefully, they at least have addressed their return game. We cannot keep starting out with poor field position or turn the ball over to the other team.
The Packers lead the all-time series 14-9, including the playoffs. We know about the Packers’ struggles to win in Seattle, but the Seahawks have only one win at Lambeau Field, a 27-7 Monday night Seattle win in Mike Holmgren’s first season in Seattle after seven seasons in Green Bay. Seattle does have two more road wins in the series, but the games were played in Milwaukee County Stadium.
If Rodgers cannot play, they will have to rally around Jordan Love. He finally got a taste of being in an NFL game and not just in garbage time either. If he gets the start, I think he will have a better overall game than he had in KC.
It’s hard to know what to expect any given week, but hopefully, we have Rodgers back and if he is in the lineup, he will have his top receivers which he didn’t have in the game at Arizona. If it is Rodgers, I look for him to play with a chip on his shoulder, and a motivated, angry Rodgers is often bad news for opponents.
The Packers will be eager to get back on the field, especially in front of their home fans. Let’s have a great week of practice and a great game on Sunday. Let’s get back to football and back to winning!
