Packers keep their dominance against the Bears going
The Packers are 5-1 after their 24-14 victory over the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field.
The Bears scored first but the Packers scored 10 unanswered points to take a 10-7 lead at halftime. The Packers came back with another touchdown in the third quarter before the Bears scored another touchdown in the fourth. The Packers responded with another touchdown drive to take a 24-14 lead. The Bears tried to rally but a couple of sacks by Kenny Clark erased any hope of a comeback.
Thoughts about this win:
The Packers were very effective in running the ball in this game. As long as Aaron Rodgers is there, they will primarily be a passing team, but if you get Aaron Jones and A.J. Dillon both running the ball as well as they did, they are very capable of making a deep playoff run.
Justin Fields brings a lot of hype. He did make some plays, but he also showed that he is still a rookie. Keep the pressure on him and he will eventually run right into a sack.
Mason Crosby nailed his only FG attempt of the game. It helps when you are scoring touchdowns instead of settling for field goals.
Rodgers wasted little time when the Bears scored to pull within 3 points in the fourth quarter. Rodgers ran it in himself and we all know what he said to the fans after that. It’s only fitting that they wore their colored jerseys because Soldier Field has become like a second home to them these last several decades.
The Packers now lead the all-time series 102-95-6. I know I mentioned this before, but the Bears had an 81-57-6 lead after the first meeting between the teams in 1992.
With the win, the Packers have a bit of a cushion in the NFC North. They will need it because they have some tough games (at least on paper) ahead of them. Next up for the Packers is another early Sunday game, this time at home vs the Washington Football Team.
Wins against the Bears never get old. They are always sweet. Enjoy this victory and have a great week Packer fans!
