Packers look to clinch the top seed in the NFC at Soldier Field
The Packers will be looking to wrap up the #1 seed in the NFC when they travel to Soldier Field to face the Chicago Bears late Sunday afternoon.
The Packers are 12-3 and dominated the Tennessee Titans at home 40-14 last Sunday night while the Bears are 8-7 and are on a 3-game winning streak, their last game a 41-17 win at Jacksonville last Sunday vs the Jaguars.
Mitchell Trubisky has been playing some decent football since the team’s defeat at Green Bay. David Montgomery has been running the ball well and they have scored 30+ points in four straight games. The Packers are coming off an impressive defensive performance vs Tennessee though, so they shouldn’t lack for confidence. Let’s get after Trubisky. We know that he can be a turnover machine if they keep the pressure on him.
Aaron Rodgers, Aaron Jones, and Davante Adams have found ways to get it done more often than not this year. Let’s get this offense going all afternoon. Let’s pick up where we left off last Sunday night.
It’s a big loss without David Bakhtiari for the rest of the season, but Elgton Jenkins has played well and can occupy any position on the offensive line. They will make the proper adjustments. David “Snacks” Harrison is a nice pickup for Green Bay, especially when it comes to stopping the run.
For the Packers, it’s simple. Win this game and they are the #1 seed and have a bye the first week of the playoffs. They can also get in if they lose and Seattle loses to San Francisco. We don’t want to count on that though. Just win and get the top seed.
The Bears could make the playoffs even with a loss. They get in if Arizona loses to the Los Angeles Rams, but with Jared Goff out for the Rams, it gives the Cardinals an advantage right there. Both games will be going in at the same time, so there may be some scoreboard watching. Also, the Seattle-SF game will be played at the same time as well.
The way the Packers handled the Titans was impressive, but we now need them to back it up with a win on Sunday. Let’s not have any letdowns after such a great victory. It would be nice if the Packers jump on them early again like they did in their meeting at Lambeau Field. The outcome was basically decided at halftime. I expect the Bears to put up a better fight this time around.
The Packers are one win away from having a bye week and having the road to the Super Bowl go through Lambeau Field. In the process, they have a chance to deny the Bears a playoff spot if Arizona wins their game. Let’s get it done on Sunday Green Bay. Let’s start 2021 off with a victory. Happy New Year to all of you!
