Packers look for their 100th victory all-time vs the Chicago Bears
The Packers return home to Lambeau Field as they get ready to host the Chicago Bears on Sunday Night Football.
The Packers are 7-3 but lost their last game, a 34-31 overtime defeat at Indianapolis. The Bears started out 5-1 but lost their last 4 games to fall to 5-5. They are coming off a bye week. Their last game was a 19-13 loss to the Minnesota Vikings at Soldier Field on a Monday night.
Quarterback Nick Foles got injured in the Minnesota game, so that means Mitchell Trubisky is back as the starting quarterback. One advantage Trubisky has over Foles is his mobility. Trubisky has the Bears’ longest run of the season. Their run game is dead last in the NFL so the Packers need to keep their ground game grounded. They aren’t much better at throwing the ball. Allen Robinson II is always a threat, but they have no consistent options other than him. The Packers need to take control and keep this offense from getting anything going. Let’s get turnovers and make the tackles. Also, stop with the blown coverages and missed assignments.
Aaron Rodgers and the rest of the offense look great at times, but we need them to look great for a full game. The offensive line will need to be great and keep Rodgers upright. Marquez Valdes-Scantling took a lot of grief for his fumble last Sunday, but he helped force overtime in the first place with his clutch reception near midfield. MVS is questionable with an Achilles injury, so there is a chance he may not play. Whoever is on the field, they need to get these players in position to make plays. They need to take advantage of their possessions and score touchdowns. Let’s jump on them early and keep it going all game.
Field position will be important in a game like this. Let’s get some good returns and get turnovers to put the offense in great field position. Watch out for Cordarrelle Patterson. He returned a kickoff for a touchdown in the Minnesota game. Kick the ball into the endzone and keep it away from him if you have to punt the ball.
The Packers lead the all-time series 99-95-6, which means they can get their 100th win in the series this Sunday. They have won 17 of their last 20, helping them take the lead in the all-time series.
Even with the loss to the Colts last Sunday, the Packers are still in great shape. Other than perhaps the Tennessee game, they should be the clear favorites in every game the rest of the regular season. Let’s get these mistakes under control. They need to tighten up on defense and get more consistent on offense these last six games.
The Bears were once 5-1, but their largest margin of victory was 7 points at Carolina. They won 3 other games by 4 points and the other by a single point. Their season is in danger of slipping away. This is a game the Packers cannot take lightly. The Packers are the better team. They need to play like it on Sunday night.
I hope you all are having a great Thanksgiving weekend! Have fun and stay safe wherever you are as we cheer our beloved Packers to victory this Sunday night.
Go Pack Go!
