Packers run past Washington
The Green Bay Packers are now 10-3 on the season after defeating the Washington Redskins 20-15 Sunday afternoon.
The Packers scored a touchdown on their opening possession and took a 14-0 lead after one quarter and went into halftime leading 14-6. They added a pair of field goals in the second half and held the Redskins down for most of the half before allowing a touchdown with 1:17 left in the game. Davante Adams recovered the onside kick and the Packers held on to win their 10th game of the season.
Aaron Jones accounted for more than half of the Packers’ offensive production as he rushed 16 times for 134 yards and a touchdown and caught 6 passes for 58. Robert Tonyan caught a 12-yard touchdown pass from Aaron Rodgers. Mason Crosby kicked two field goals.
The offense struggled to finish drives in this game. Rodgers got sacked 4 times and lost a fumble before halftime. The defense held the Redskins down for much of the game. After the turnover, the Packers got a takeaway of their own as Adrian Amos intercepted Dwayne Haskins before halftime.
The way the offense struggled at times seems to concern a lot of the players and fans. Aaron Rodgers isn’t too worried about it though. He said that he wouldn’t mind winning ugly all the way to the Super Bowl. As long as they are winning, nothing else really matters.
The bottom line is the Packers are 10-3 and leading their division. They currently hold the #2 seed which would mean a bye week in the first round of the playoffs. There are three games left for the Packers to build some consistency. Next up is the Chicago Bears at Noon on Sunday. The Bears are 7-6 and have won their last three games, so the Packers need a great week of practice and preparation.
However they are doing it, the Packers found a way to win 10 games. Let’s keep it up next week and beyond. A win is a win.
Have a great week Packer fans!
