Packers look to run past Washington
The Green Bay Packers head into the final four weeks of the regular season looking to build some momentum for a playoff run. The Washington Redskins come into Lambeau Field for a noon kickoff on Sunday.
Both teams are coming off road wins. The Packers are 9-3, winning last Sunday in the Meadowlands 31-13 vs the New York Giants while the Washington Redskins are 3-9 but won their last two games, including a 29-21 road win last Sunday vs the Carolina Panthers.
The Packers face another rookie QB on Sunday as Dwayne Haskins gets the start. Their running back is a familiar face to Packer fans, veteran Adrian Peterson. Their receiving corps doesn’t have any household names with players such as Terry McLaurin, Paul Richardson Jr., and Kelvin Harmon. Let’s keep it that way. I expect the Packers will try to stop the run and force Haskins to make plays. They got 3 interceptions off Daniel Jones last week. Perhaps they can get some more on Sunday.
Aaron Rodgers made some plays against the Giants’ secondary last Sunday. There should be some opportunities again this Sunday, but the Redskins do have 13 interceptions on the season so Rodgers needs to be careful, which he usually is. Getting Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams going in the cold weather is very important. Let’s continue to spread the ball around and finish drives with touchdowns.
This game looks like a mismatch but as I said earlier, Washington has won their last two games. The Packers handled the Giants but entered the fourth quarter with the outcome still in doubt. It’s time to dominate from start to finish. We need to see some consistency out of this team.
The Vikings lost to the Seahawks on Monday night, giving the Packers some breathing room in the division. This is no time to come out flat and let this opportunity slip away. If the Packers want to be taken seriously as a playoff threat, they need to come out and dominate this game. I’m challenging the defense once again. Let’s get stops and get some good field position for our offense.
This is the Packers’ first home game in four weeks. The fans are ready to return to Lambeau Field and make a lot of noise. Let’s give them plenty to cheer about all day. I think they will do just that.
