This Sunday, the Green Bay Packers, (1-1-1) will host the Buffalo Bills, (1-2-0) at Lambeau Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:05.
The Packers endured a pathetic performance against the Washington Redskins at FedEx Field last Sunday. Aaron Rodgers played with a sprained knee, the same injury he received during opening night in game one against the Chicago Bears. Without doubt, it was obvious the injured knee contributed to his much less than stellar performance against the Redskins. Rodgers threw for 27/44 for 265 total yards for 2 touchdowns.
Clay Mathews was penalized for a text book tackle on Redskins QB Kirk Cousins. Throughout Matthew’s career he has been penalized 4 times for roughing the passer, 3 of those came this season. Several dropped passes and 15 penalties for a total of 115 yards is inexcusable. The Skins were penalized 6-66, all contributing factors in the 31-17 loss to the Redskins. Green Bay’s defense was destroyed in the first half allowing the Redskins 323 yards that included 4 plays of over 34 yards. Newly acquired Defensive Coordinator Mike Pettine has yet to show his new defense is of championship caliber. Sadly, Defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson came out of the game with an injury to his left ankle. Tests revealed the injury is serious and he will sit out for the remainder of the season.
The Bills however are coming off their best showing, showcasing a dominating game of the Minnesota Vikings. They won with an impressive score over the Vikings of 27-6. The Buffalo Bills new rookie quarterback Josh Allen passed for 15/22 and rushed for 39 yards resulting in 2 rushing and 1 passing touchdowns. Buffalo’s defense came alive as this season they had allowed 75 points during the first 6 quarters of play and only 9 points the last 6 quarters.
There isn’t a lot of history between the two teams as they’ve only met 12 times with the Bills leading 8-4. The first time they met was back on October, 6, 1974 when the Bills won 27-7. The last meeting was on December, 14, 2014 when the Bills won again 21-13.
There’s no straying from the truth. Dropped balls, missed tackles, penalty’s, this is not the Packers team I expected to see this season. The defense is extremely questionable, the offensive line is weak, penalties are in abundance and the play calling of MM is again questionable, and finally clock management and use of timeouts is also in question. Sure, Rodgers is hurt and it’s obvious. The time may have come to sit him before the damage is season or career ending. The truth hurts, but I’ll always cheer on our beloved Green Bay Packers. I must admit lately it’s been disappointing to say the least. In all reality, we should be at 0-3-0. Just my opinion.
The Bill’s continue their streak 34-17 over the Packers.
